One of Pembrokeshire’s longest established exchange programmes saw members of Manorbier Twinning Association host visitors from the French village Vernou-la-Celle sur Seine recently.
For over three decades villagers from Manorbier have visited, in alternative years, the village in France which is southeast of Paris, close to Fontainebleau, and then taken it in turns to welcome their French counterparts arranging trips to see local attractions both in Pembrokeshire and South Wales generally.
This year the number of French villagers staying with families in and around Manorbier was half the normal 20 involved in the exchange but, said Bryan Turnbull “They thoroughly enjoyed their visit to Carew Cheriton Control Tower and a trip up the Cleddau.” Bryan, a new member of the Manorbier Twinning Association said “We managed to get stuck on a sandbank for an hour and twenty minutes – everyone found it highly amusing.”
In addition to visiting local attractions the French visitors were taken to St Fagan’s Museum in Cardiff.
